Maribyrnong Preventing Violence Against Women

Client: Maribyrnong City Council

As part of their commitment to violence prevention, Maribyrnong City Council participated in a three-year project between 2006 and 2009 (GLOVE Project) to develop strategies in partnership with local communities and organisations to prevent violence against women.

To build on this work, Council agreed to prepare a public statement on violence against women to reflect community sentiment and help increase community capacity to respond to the issue.

Capire Consulting Group was engaged to facilitate two community workshops to explore key themes, aspirations, challenges and opportunities to inform the preparation of the public statement and supporting messages, in partnership with Council.

The public statement will help to strengthen and consolidate Maribyrnong City Councils' efforts in changing cultures, raising awareness, and addressing challenges associated with preventing violence against women.
