Broadmeadows Structure Plan

Client: Department of Planning and Community Development

The Broadmeadows Structure Plan is a long term plan for integrated, systematic and consistent considerations to guide any proposal for change in the Broadmeadows town centre. It will guide the major changes to land use, built form and public spaces. The Structure Plan will also include a vision to guide future development in Broadmeadows.

Capire was engaged to prepare and implement a Stakeholder Engagement Strategy to underpin the development of the Broadmeadows Structure Plan. The Stakeholder Engagement Strategy included a range of tools and techniques to engage with diverse community members. It also included structured social research to identify and understand community values and aspirations.

Techniques have included Community Visioning Workshops, Focus Groups, Semi-Structured Interviews with Service Providers, an Online Forum, Community Information Day and Vox Pops. A range of supporting tools were also prepared including Fact Sheets in seven community languages, display and interpretive materials.

In early 2012 the Broadmeadows Structure Plan was endorsed by Hume City Council after three years of preparation.
