Client: Department of Transport

The Transport Integration Act 2010 sets out a vision, objectives and principles for transport, making it clear that the transport system needs to be integrated and sustainable - in economic terms, in environmental terms and in social terms - and clearly establishing transport as a triple bottom line issue. Accessibility is a key aspect of the new legislation and needs to be better understood and its implementation challenges addressed.

Capire has been engaged to design and facilitate seven interactive internal Department of Transport, VicRoads and Department of Planning and Community Devlopment staff workshops in Melbourne, Traralgon and Ballarat to assist in the understanding of how aspects of accessibility can be better incorporated into everyday decision making and policy development.

The outcomes of this engagement process will be a deeper understanding of issues, obstacles and opportunities to embed accessibility across government decision making.
