Capire in East Timor

As part of Capire's regular 'pro bono' work, our team has been working with the Bendigo-Maubisse Friendship Committee to prepare a Community Partnership Action Plan for Maubisse, East Timor.

In early July 2011, Agata and Michael facilitated a successful community workshop in Maubisse, East Timor. As a result of the workshop, the Maubisse community leaders identify shared, practical priorities for the upcoming year.  The three identified priorities are:

  • Development of a storage facility for contents of containers sent from Australia, so that the community has ownership over the distribution.
  • Development of a youth training and recreation facility.
  • Development of a women's community house.

Michael, our resident photographer, took over 2000 images over the course of the trip.  The linked slideshow gives an insight into the group's journey and work.  Click here to follow the group as they travel from the capital Dili to the mountains of Maubisse.
